This BMT MiniProfiler roughness measurement system in combination with the CMM manipulator arm supplements a CMM with a universal roughness measurement system.
The manipulator arm together with the MiniProfiler roughness measurement system is an
exchangeable system and is stored in the CMM magazine like the conventional probes. It has its own processor and enables to position the stylus in the most important spatial orientations at the workpiece.
The data transfer for the positioning commands and the measurement data transfer are done in a wireless mode. Therefore any CMM can be supplemented by this system.
Workpiece specific adapters enable the skidless roughness measurement even at slanted workpiece contours and inside holes.accumulator is being charged.
Due to the extremely small measurement loop the system is immune to external vibrations. The measurement parameters are set inside the original CMM program and the roughness tester is handled like conventional probes. The stylus can be exchanged by the user. Preferably the control of the roughness tester as well as the data evaluation is done via the operating surface of the CMM.
