（4）輸入輸出組件（I/0模塊）

I/0模塊是CPU與現場I/0裝置或其它外部設備之間的連接部件。PLC提供了各種操作電平與驅動能力的I/0模塊和各種用途的I/0組件供用戶選用。如輸入/輸出電平轉換、電氣隔離、串/并行轉換數據、誤碼較驗、A/D或D/A轉換以及其它功能模塊等。I/0模塊將外界輸入信號變成CPU能接受的信號，或將CPU的輸出信號變成需要的控制信號去驅動控制對象（包括開關量和模擬量），以確保整個系統正常工作。

輸入的開關量信號接在IN端和0V端之間，PLC內部提供24V電源，輸入信號通過光電隔離，通過R/C濾波進入CPU控制板，CPU發出輸出信號至輸出端。PLC輸出有三種型式：繼電器方式、晶體管方式和晶閘管方式。

（5）編程器

編程器是用于用戶程序的編制、編輯、調試檢查和監視等。還可以通過其鍵盤去調用和顯示PLC的一些內部狀態和系統參數。它通過通訊端口與CPU聯系，完成人機對話連接。編程器上有供編程用的各種功能鍵和顯示燈以及編程、監控轉換開關。編程器的鍵盤采用梯形圖語言鍵符式命令語言助記符，也可以采用軟件的功能鍵符，通過屏幕對話方式進行編程。

編程器分為簡易型和智能型兩類。前者只能連機編程，而后者既可連機編程又可脫機編程。同時前者輸入梯形圖的語言鍵符，后者可以直接輸入梯形圖。根據不同檔次的PLC產品選配相應的編程器。

（6）外部設備

一般PLC都配有盒式錄音機、打印機、EPR0M寫入器、高分辨率屏幕彩色圖形監控系統等外部設備。

（7）電源

根據PLC的設計特點，它對電源并無特別要求，可使用一般工業電源。
